Ipoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan, Malaysia

At the heart of Kinta Valley. The capital city of the state of Perak. An opposition stronghold. Factory of brilliant people. Desolated through emigration of its inhabitants to other parts of the country and overseas. Yet... it is forever remembered by its people.

each morning as i wake up, i will get hold of The Star delivered to my porch, and each time, since the past few weeks, i wail in horror! my very instant repsonse is that Malaysia is getting very unsafe and the society is moving backwards to barbarianism. killing, murdering, slitting, stabbing or beating people to death is seen like a norm which must happen each day!

one of the headlines in the frontpage today reads "couple slain at lovers' haunt". in my view, this title conveys two meanings or messages. first, safety and security are still in a very low level of concern among the authorities and government, which subsequently means that the enforcers are still very lazy and "lepaking"! second, there is no doubt that our society is degrading; people start to kill to show "cool" and let go of frustration, and worse still it is executed as if it is no sin!

is there any difference between such threats in our homeland with those in lands where the terrorists, whom we know how to regard as inhuman, sadistic and brutal, are prowling? to me there is no difference. does it make sense to hear that one can simply stab on the other when the conflict that occurs could not be resolved? does it make sense to realise that gangs can always make fun of lovers and take the couples, to the matter their lives, for fun, own pleasure and persecution? our society is just as horrifying and terrifying!

i wonder what are the PDRMs doing each day? do they actually have plans, or in the first place, intentions to curb and eradicate all these unaccepted acts of humans? perhaps, like as they have been since the beginning, they will only investigate when things happened and later to discard those cases when everything calms down! and for each case, the public will never know who the culprits are, the reasons for the case and in short, the public will never know anything. cases are closed to be stated as non existent.

the threatened facet of society too need to take precautions. i am actually quite skeptical as to why lovers always go to secluded places for the sake of "paktoh" amid of alarming unsafe environments here!
