Ipoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan, Malaysia

At the heart of Kinta Valley. The capital city of the state of Perak. An opposition stronghold. Factory of brilliant people. Desolated through emigration of its inhabitants to other parts of the country and overseas. Yet... it is forever remembered by its people.

ben, nice to have you start blogging again. truly, as what i had expected, those who went for the Big Thing are those i always and frequently meet in um. if not also, people like you and shu yee, i will definitely, somehow, meet whenever we are back for holidays.

as far as i am concerned, many are busy with works and final year projects, hence, they either, were already back in their universities or are staying back to making sure that their projects do not go perverse and faulty. whilst the number of people who are busy with those projects is relatively high, there are many too who do not use or rather feel wierd to mix around with old schoolmates. perhaps, during the schooling days, they were not close with us afterall. surely, there is a gap of communication, which i think i understand and comprehend well. one more group of people, on the other hand, feel that this Big Thing is just another waste of time activity. they prefer to indulge in their own sweet time doing their routine and daily chores instead of taking a few hours off to speak to old friends.

as a conclusion, there are a lot of different types of individuals. some may be eccentric or like geeks, some may be more opened and sporting to talk to anybody they meet and come across, some may be a bit more seclusive; prefering to stay out of the community, not anti-social but timid, some may be selfish and into their own class; this i would refer as anti-social, some may be a bit shy and embarass but once you are able to propel them to pop a word from their mouths; that's it, you will have a long non-stop conversation.

More on education in Malaysia........

Teong, do you remember our conversation in my room when I just balik dari Ipoh?
I was telling you about this article I read from PROMUDA, that it is time that the university realise that they are no longer masters of students, but we make the university... so there should be no sekolah menengah rules....

Today, the supply that was planned prior to the recession has produced a glut of institutions of higher learning; universities are now looking for students, except for prized programmes like Law and Medicine. It is not heaven-sent getting an offer from a local university, since there are more than 30 local institutions that provide degrees. Malaysians can pick and choose, and now the university has to justify itself to the purchaser of a degree.

for me the big thing ( which was actually a very small thing thanks to a lot of ppl ) was a big let down. i was hoping to meet with quite a number of ppl whom i had not seen since form 5 and upper six. guess there are only a few who really value friendship and want to keep in touch. bravo to fooji for organizing this event for this few. thanks.. really enjoyed myself

Dear Teong and those interested, you must read this. The respected Dinesh Nair has these gems to say about our education system.

The fact that we came out realising what went wrong, means hey, we are too good to be ruined by a bad system...hehhehe!!!!!

Tomorrow = Independence
Mannnn... tomorrow will be the last day of my examinations!!! Been studying until I am scared of the notes and sort now (JELAK)... maklumlah, I am not in the group who like to study... NOT until the very last minute. How last minute is my last minute? HAHA... tomorrow's paper is Financial Planning (it's a Luar Fakulti's paper) and the heck thing is I am still "interneting", and yet to touch on it.... that's my definition of study and study last minute = tomorrow ada exam ke? got then study lah today, if takde, lepak lah first... surf surf and chatting chatting a bit dulu! sigh... what a wrong and misleading attitude towards studying! Anyhow, Financial Planning is my last and 6th paper, the previous ones were Robotics, Cyberlaw, Software Engineering, Neural Networks, and Image Processing... can just imagine how much I have been putting into my brain since last Monday... I am really looking forward for the post-exams break of about a month... got to really catch and pick up on a lot (up to the power of 100!!!) of knowledge and stuffs... Java programming, Matlab programming, web development, and the list goes on.... sigh...
