Ipoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan, Malaysia

At the heart of Kinta Valley. The capital city of the state of Perak. An opposition stronghold. Factory of brilliant people. Desolated through emigration of its inhabitants to other parts of the country and overseas. Yet... it is forever remembered by its people.

Liu Xiang - Asian Hero

Just a few seconds ago, remarkably, the Chinese young man made his country, me and I am sure many other Asians as well proud of his achievement; winning the gold medal for the men's 110m hurdles with an olympic record of 12.91secs. A warning to the Westerners that Beijing is all geared up for 2008 perhaps? Whatever, his feat has tremendously electrified me as I was just hoping that at least an Asian can win one of the short-sprinting track event. Liu Xiang has realised my dream or rather my hope and he proved that Asia juga Boleh!

Comment to PGL..

Sorry to say that I won't be proud of PGL, homegrown movie which is promoted massively recently. I haven't gone through that movie, and not plan to do also. Anyway, with what I watched from the trailer and MTV from nvt7, I feel disgusting with that singer (Tiara Jacquelina?) and cunning-looked M. Nasir. The singer is too outrageous in her performance (although I had a goose-pimples with her, as a normal man), which show no decentness. I can say it's nothing if I watch the same appearance with chinese, but not malay.

And I have no interest with Malacca's history, or Tanah Melayu kononnya. (Don't ask me why) Just guzzle up all the facts last time while studied history for SPM exams purpose only. And I'm somehow fed-up with TITAS in university. Why should we learn all that history? People said we can learn something from history, as well as epitome of entity. I don't think I should adhere myself with it.

I totally understand fooji's expression, striving hard to aware us to be clear with our entity, and eliminate the culture of "agung-agungkan bulan di negara asing". Yes, I'll always to do so, but not by outrageous Puteri Gunung Ledang.

Comment to kedaulatan ekonomi, politik, kewangan etc...

Sauber Petronas is not our team. If Sauber Petronas wins in Sepang circuit or other circuits, it's Swiss pride. We are nothing to be proud of. Petronas just make alliance with Sauber in 1995 in order to build its name and recognition in the eye of the world, and their business in more than 35 countries. In F1, I can say they contribute not much. In a nutshell, I'll proud if Alex Yong is up to podium with our own-made engine Proton (if Proton can make themselves as F1 team like Honda and Toyota).

Again, Malaysians like to accentuate themselves with some world record holder. KLCC Twin Towers is one of it. But, unfortunately, it's designed by Argentinan (correct me if I'm wrong). Yes, I really hope that one day our Tower 2 is fully occupied by local MNCs, with exceptional calibre Malaysian CEO.

We end up with the worst performance in Athens Olimpic. 2 golds with Thailand and 1 to Indo. Singaporean girl can make herself to semi-final in pingpong. So where are we? What is our entity? What can be proud of?

I came across with 1 article last time in Star. She said we can proud with our multiracial harmony. Perhaps this one is something to be proud of. Back to the root, we should grateful and appreciate to live in a country with no wars, no natural disasters, no poverty-striken, no political crisis etc.

We merely need sometime to seek for our entity in the eye of the world..

Komen Hari Merdeka 2004 - Warung Ikan Bakar

Fooji and I are enjoying the free broadband connection from one the labs at the Faculty of Information Tecnology in UTP (Petronas University). We are amazed and impressed by the modern and futuristic architecture (resembling Imperial College of London), facilities and all the latest technologies and machines. All we can say is "an engineering feat".

I just got a 'good new' SMS from Bteong about his latest job hunt progress. Sorry, teong, I cannot reply as I have only 39 sen left with Maxis. And I am not going to pay them so fast yet, meaning I have to be kedekut with my phone for another 15 days.

My surgery end of posting exam will start next monday. There are lots to do and to revise. Yet, I have watched 2 movies in 2 days - Spidey2 and The Village.

Excellent shows. One movie about being a loser and heroism, and another about love and civilisation. Excellent.

And yeah, Ian has a blogspot too, and it is pretty cool - go to http://yahkid.blogspot.com

The blog has remained static for quite sometimes. Let me see what I have to update you guys and gals. Post-convo. My convo took place a week ago. Whenever I come to think of it, I can only say that time just passes by and everything on earth does fade away. The euphoria on convo day now remains memory; just another piece of nostalgic event.

Post-convo bears another meaning too. Exactly like what Fooji mentioned in his previous blog, I am now an official graduate of University Malaya. It simply means, working is my responsibility and duty now. Have been applying to various positions within a company and among different companies since 3 weeks ago. So far still no news.

Anyway, the amazing understanding I found lately is about fundamental electronics. Well, applications that required intensive to mild computations all based on the basis of "the presense of electron" and "the absence of electron". In short, Boolean logic, of 0 and 1. Execution of a piece of instructions in machine language, which consists of a huge amouny of 0's and 1's in different combinations, is made possible with the manipulation of electrons using silicon (transistor, IC). When there is a movement of electrons, it means 1 and vice versa.

When someone says something about processor speed and indicates the number of calculations per second that it can performs, he/she means the actual number of flip-flops or manipulations of the movement of electrons per second?! Correct me if I am wrong. It is real complex and complicated to understanding all the underlying concepts and workings of computer hardware.

Balik-balik juga kepada 0 and 1.

Electrical and electronics engineering derives from "electron" and its movement. Quantum engineering or even nano engineering will go further than just merely movement; they explore and manipulate the properties of sub-atoms to perform calculations. There lies the crunching power. Still a long way to go though.

Balik-balik juga kepada complexity dan un-understandable.

Next sharing of knowledge : hopefully, about automata and complexity theory. This is one of the core courses in Computer Science but it never exists in UM. Out of my own interest, I search for its tutorials and notes on the Web.

Aiya,... forgot to take picture with KarKin, my cemerlang student friend.....

but I took one with Teong....

the crowd was crazy, i am sure the dean and the VC and Raja Nazrin thought it was crazy too. FUnny to look at their expression about how crowded the place was...

the pesta Konvo looks kinda cool, in a way, it does not have that pasar malam feel anymore.

But I still dread going to the convo again, which I must, on Saturday.

Congratulations to Lee Kar Kin, and Boon Teong, my Ipoh Tauges buddies who are now officially graduates of Universiti Malaya, and can start earning comfortably.....

I wonder when I will get free meals......
