Ipoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan, Malaysia

At the heart of Kinta Valley. The capital city of the state of Perak. An opposition stronghold. Factory of brilliant people. Desolated through emigration of its inhabitants to other parts of the country and overseas. Yet... it is forever remembered by its people.

Sitting three and a half hours in the TGV Ipoh, eventually I could catch up the last episode of LOTR, The Return of King. While stepping out of the cinema, my mind was still stirring with the casts like Gandalf, Frodo, Sam, Smeogol, Arogarn and Legolas. It was a happy ending where the Gordon city and Orcs were devastated following by the destruction of the ring. Last scene showed the building of happy family from Sam who taking his love down the aisle and the birth of two daughters, while Frodo continues his adventure with Gandalf. Arrogarn becomes Mitirithn King and marries with the Elf Awen.

Anyway, the crunch of the movie, in my view, is the moment when Frodo want to destroy the ring by throwing it into the fiery volcano. At that critical moment, despite continuously urging from Sam, Frodo is likely so doubtful to destroy it, albeit they have had a long venture to Gordon with sweat and blood. Frodo's greediness and cruelty in owning the ring, which later causing him the single-finger cut-off when Smeogol has a friction with him, has crippled the movie. I don't think it is a wise option of director to place this freaky behaviour to Itijah Wood who casted Frodo, with the reason that he was the main actor of the film. Likewise, his action to abandon Sam in the staircase followed by Smeogol's evasive words also showed how lunatic and irrational Frodo was.

If you are really have a thorough judgement of every character in the movie, you will see that the genuine "hero" is not those who fight in the battle like Arogarn or Legolas, but this title should fall to Mr. Samwise, Frodo's follower. I give my highest respectation and admiration with Sam's spirit. His never give-up spirit and loyalty must be praised. He is always vigil albeit absolutely exhausted in order to shield Frodo from the cunning Smeogol; he gives all his food and last drop of water to feed Frodo along the adventure journey; he cuddles Frodo to climb the stairs when Frodo is exhausted; and he is also the one who save Frodo from being the victim of the gigantic spider although he had been abondoned by Frodo in the mid way.

As overall by the way, I'm totally thrilled with the movie. Its mixture of secene and exhilarating scenes underpinning with the enthralled soundtrack, is enormously invirograting. The computer effects like the Orc modeling, flocking system, the rustic castle and semi-transparent ghost are abosuletely exquisite. It is an irresistible and "must-see" movie. Even if you pay RM10 to feel the excitement from audiences, I don't think it is a ludicrous experience! I give a thumb up for the movie. Sam should be nominated as the Oscar best supporting actor award.
